Another Tragedy, and yet another event for the media to get so very wrong. The Mirror ran with a picture of an American bull dog with cropped ears ( banned in the uk since 1886) a dog resembling the one in the photo!! What does it matter what the dog looked like??!! Why dont they look for other factors which may have far more consequences and relevance to the fact ? Where did it happen? What preceded the event? Does the dog resource guard? Has it been trained or abused using force? When did it last get a health screening if the vet? Was it in pain? Had it bitten before? If so how bad? There are all to frequently patterns which can predict this risk, but as long as the media and government focus on genetics rather than environment, sadly we will never prevent these events.
