Another Under The Radar favorite!! Swept Away was title track from Diana Ross fourth album for RCA Records. Written Daryl Hall (of Hall & Oates) and Halls longtime girlfriend and sometime songwriting collaborator Sara Allen (of Sara Smile fame), this record was unlike anything Ms. Ross had ever done before. Hall co-produced the track with ace producer and remixer Arthur Baker, who at the time was also working with Hall & Oates on their album Big Bam Boom. With an aggressive uptempo groove, Swept Away was probably the best record Shannon (of Let The Music Play fame) never made! Featured here is the original, and epic 12 dance mix of this club classic. Also lending to the Freestyle club feel of this track were the extraordinary edits by The Latin Rascals. Long before people were able to cut and paste things in a computer, the Rascals did it all with analog tape and a razor blade. The end results are still stunning and awe inspiring. Besides being a number one dance record, Swept Away was a solid hit on both radio, peaking at #3 on the Billboard R&B singles chart and #19 on the Hot 100 in the Fall of 1984. It may sound a bit dated to some, but I think it still kicks a**!! :D
