Another amazing day has passed and what a testimony of The Lord knowing and understanding all things. The transfer on Tuesday night from the University of Utah over to the LTAC was one we faced with fear and trepidation. We had numerous questions remaining, and we were fearful of the change in environment, the new nursing staff, the possibility that she just might not be ready to get out of the ICU. After the first night Heather was greeted the following morning by numerous physicians, nurses, staff and administrators who all seemed to have Makenzies best interests in mind. Since that time it has been remarkable to see the daily miracles associated with her continued recovery. I arrived from St. George this evening back up in SLC to see my dear daughter and sweet wife. It is AMAZING to see how wonderfully beautiful Makenzie appears. She had been involved in a full day of activity, multiple therapies, and prolonged periods of wakefulness. Kenz still doesnt track with her eyes, but her eyes remain open for much long periods of time, and in spite of not being fully conscious she is definitely more interactive. She looks like she wants to just wake up and we know that it WILL happen in the Lords time. In the meantime, we will continue to exercise our faith and hope that the Lords plan will be for Makenzie to remain here to teach us what miracles truly are today. She was able to tolerate being on the tilt-table, she was up in the wheelchair, air, her cough is strong, her swallowing function appears normal, and her strength on the right side of her body increases every day. It is truly a miracle to watch!! Heather remains faithfully at Makenzies side, and her love for her sweet daughter is something that all should be given the opportunity to see. Our families and friends continue to amaze us with their constant love and support at this very trying time in your lives. May The Lord continue to bless all of you as we follow HIS will always!
