Another count in Celbridge which, in fairness to the count staff is starting to get motoring towards a conclusion. The elimination of Beirne didnt get anyone elected but it did point in the direction of where it all might go. The big winners were Caldwell with 75, and Young with 122, both independents. All the rest got about 30-odd. Sitting Labour councillor Colm Purcell has been eliminated. His 550 votes should help his party colleagues newcomer Shane Griffin and popular veteran Kevin Byrne. Only two of the seven seats have been filled so far. The next placed, as it stands now after the seventh count, are, in order: Caldwell, Byrne, Cussen, Neville and Griffin. You never know where transfers could go.
