Another day, another poll. But a Roy Morgan state voting intention poll, conducted through mobile phone messages last weekend and released on Wednesday, found the race in Queensland is closer than some pundits think. And it put the preferred premier race even closer, with respondents putting Campbell Newman and Annastacia Palaszczuk in a dead heat. The latest Queensland Newspoll, published in The Australian on Monday, found the LNP led Labor on a two-party preferred basis, 54 per cent to 46 per cent, having gained five points since the June Newspoll. But the Roy Morgan poll of 1190 Queensland voters put the margin at 51 to 49 per cent. That would bring the Opposition closer to its goal of winning 30 to 35 seats at the next election. Newspoll put Mr Newmans preferred premier rating at 41 per cent, compared with Ms Palaszczuks 39 per cent. Roy Morgan put them both at 50 per cent.
