Another day of the journey in the books! Spent the morning walking around Santa Fe taking in some of its history. If you are ever in Santa Fe, go to the Loretta Chapel and see the spiral staircase. It makes two 360 degree spirals and is supported only at the base of the stairs. No center support or support from the walls. The load bearing weight is on the bottom step. Engineering marvel. Awesome! A lot of the rivers out here are dry riverbeds. I guess it is only a river when it rains. Nice drive this afternoon in Durango, CO. Spent the evening walking around town. Tomorrow starts with the Durango-Silverton Railroad trip. (wish they had a sleeper car!) Later!!
