Another fantastic Observational Evening, despite the good old - TopicsExpress

Another fantastic Observational Evening, despite the good old English weather making us unable to do any observing! Starting off with Vice-Chairman Martin Bastian giving us some information on using a spectroscopic filter. It really is amazing the tools available to amateur astronomers these days! After which he discussed the recent discovery of Perchlorate on Mars. Observation Secretary Simon Harding gave us a fantastic run down of what we can observe this month and showed us some of his stunning Aurora images from his trip to Iceland recently. He was very fortunate with some very active Auroral displays with colours varying from Green, to Magenta, Red and even Yellows! Member Paul Hutchinson showed us some of his fantastic images hes taken from his Astrophotography portfolio! A huge collection of Cadwell objects, NGC objects and Messier objects! And members finally got their hands on the Torbay Astronomical Societys new calendar! We havent even mentioned the coffee and biscuits yet! Another prime example of how even if the weather is bad, we still have plenty of Astronomical topics to cover on an Observational Evening! Our next meeting is in 2 weeks time, Thursday 7th November, and will be a lecture by Peter Grego entitled Observing the Moon. Details of this meeting can be found at the following link;
