Another good day today, friends — another good day! Karens - TopicsExpress

Another good day today, friends — another good day! Karens fever has been extremely low to nonexistent today, so please keep praying for that — and thanking God for the progress! Her GI doctor checked up on her again, and said hes happy with everything! Lets pray things keep on this path — and lets thank God for the progress here! Her lung x-rays continue to look good, and I had them perform another DVT test to make me feel better before we leave — and all is well. I need to clarify the ventilator situation: shes on whats called spontaneous with support. Karen IS breathing on her own like I said before — if she doesnt inhale and exhale on her own volition, nothing is going to help her, period. Its her 100% responsibility. THAT SAID, the support part is when they first made the mode change, when Karen chose to inhale, the machine would give her a certain amount of CCs of oxygen to help ensure she inhaled at full volume. She started at 15 on day one. The next day, they dropped to 14. Today, they dropped to 12 — and shes still doing just fine! When it gets down to 5, the person no longer needs any support of any kind, and theyre slowly taking Karen to that point — and shes owning it! So yes, shes breathing all on her own, but with a little air volume support to help get her lungs and muscles back into the swing of things. Just wanted to clarify! We also got our first sneeze today, which surprised her nurse! I dont think theres any significance to this, but it was funny to hear about it. :) We also made some major strides forward regarding coming back to the USA! I dont have a departure date yet for sure, but folks, I think we may be airborne by the end of the week! Dont hold me to that — but Im thinking itll happen SOON! Be praying for this as there are a LOT of pieces in this mini-puzzle! Weve been able to read up through Acts 27 together so far. I never would have guessed how difficult it would be to read out load to someone in a hospital — but were doing it! If you havent read the last third of Acts in a while, you really should read it again. Its so ridiculously awesome. Paul is hardcore, man. Lastly, I woke up today with the sniffles and I just dont quite feel 100%. For a multitude of reasons, now is NOT the time for me to get sick. Please pray the LORD fends off illness and allows me rest. Okay, THIS is lastly... I have my opinions, hopes, prayers, and desires for the final outcome of this horrible, horrible situation. I truly believe we will come out of this with Karen fully restored. I dont know WHEN that will be. I dont know how long it will take. Days? Weeks? Months? Years? I have no clue. What I DO know is this: Ive lumped around on this planet for just over 40 years, and while Ive seen the LORD do a lot of crazy and cool stuff — things that have no answer or explanation outside of God in Heaven — I have never experienced such a chain-reaction of answered prayer and pieces falling into place like Ive been experiencing the last 6 weeks. Im confident you folks are seeing this from over there, so you can only image what its like to be here in the big middle of it. All the hundreds of snippets of conversations and information and things needing to happen for this to happen and so on and so forth — its INSANE. My posts are long, I know — but if I told you everything, Id still by typing on the first weeks post. Make no mistake: the LORD is moving in a mighty way. Has been moving. This encourages me, obviously, for the outcome I desire. But whatever the outcome is, how awesome is God, no? That we are the children of a God that loves us so much, He sent His Son to die for us because we just couldnt keep from breaking the laws WE asked Him to give us. He got tired of us trying and failing, and said, You know what? You knuckleheads are just never going to get it, and its starting to get tiresome. Im going to make it so simple for you that you CANT get it wrong: you either believe and are saved, or you dont believe. *I* will send the final sacrifice and make the final payment through My Son, Jesus — all you have to do is accept the free gift, believing in Him as LORD and Savior. The God that spoke the world into existence. The Creator. The Beginning. This is the same God thats LISTENING TO OUR PRAYERS — and friends, He is ANSWERING THEM. He is a PERSONAL God, a Living God. He is literal. He is real. He chooses to participate in our lives as much as we let Him. He LOVES US. That doesnt mean life is all roses and lollipops — obviously. There are rules to the order of Nature He created. Our world works certain ways. Its broken. Fallen. We have consequences, problems, and sometimes the worst of things happen to the best of our kind. But sometimes God steps into the Natural order and reminds it Who the Boss is. Sometimes we see the Super Natural. Sometimes we see the Super Natural in response to our cries to God, and theres just no mistaking it that its Him doing it. What a blessing it has been (and is) to be caught in the middle of the Super Natural right here and right now. I pray and hope it continues, and in the end, we all get my sweet Karen Sue back to her old pre-accident self.
