Another great LOCAL opportunity for Midwest artists. UWA is doing a project in Geraldton as part of its centenary ‘giving back to the community’. The project in Geraldton will work with local young people to create video and visual images that will be projected on the CBH Gain silos in November 2013. The University of Western Australia, ACDC and the City of Greater Geraldton invite a Geraldton based Community Art Project Facilitator (or Artist in Residence) to work with Lead Artist Sohan Ariel Hayes to capture community ideas about Geraldton and its next century of change. The Community Art Project Facilitator will be engaged in a three week residency from September 16th to October 4th 2013 where they will develop and co‐ordinate the delivery of artistic workshops to invited high school & community networks in response to provocation material. The residency will be based at ACDC but may necessitate visits to high schools in the City of Greater Geraldton. The material will be utilised to create a short film which will be screened on the CBH grain handling facility on the evenings of Friday November 15th and Saturday November 16th 2013. Eligibility Criteria The Resident Artist: • will be a resident of the City of Greater Geraldton, • may comprise more than one person, • must hold a current ABN, • will be resident in the project space at least during business hours and Saturday mornings September 16th to October 4th 2013. Remuneration The fee amount is still subject to final funding approval, however it is anticipated that the Artist in Residence will be paid approximately $3500 (ex GST). This is inclusive of preparation, attendance and participation. A materials and expenses budget will be additional. Closing Date: EOIs must be submitted by Friday 16th August.
