PHOTO #3 (and #4) Okay, you are standing on the beginning of Castle Gardens Road, the EAST end, probably where the underpass is right now, looking WEST. In the distance is the WEST crossing over the tracks of Castle Gardens Road. To the left along the hillside would be where Chucksters mini-gold is now, remember they cut a LOT of the hillside out to use as fill for the Rt. 17 project. Castle Gardens Road went back over the tracks and turned up what is now Old Owego Road, which can be seen in the distance in the center of the photo. Again, the knoll on the left must have been taken out years ago when they built the Vestal Parkway, old Rt. 17. Here are both photos of the area, the camera was just moved a bit for the second photo. What do YOU think? Using the hillsides as locators, and the terrain in modern photos, does this look like the area of Castle Gardens by the EAST entrance?
