Another ignored race by the GOP and another disappointment. - TopicsExpress

Another ignored race by the GOP and another disappointment. Sergio R. Rodriguez, In 2009 I ran for mayor of Albany. I am a republican, Latino, and also disabled. Oh, I am also an American. The state party had no interest in my race either. They even prevented me from getting my name on the ballot for County Executive two years later when they had no candidate. Another ignored race. But Im a republican because of the principles, not because the right person is leading the party. Honestly, I have probably been a real republican longer than most of these so called party bosses. A person of color who is willing to publicly share his republican beliefs is admonished and ridiculed. He/she is sometimes called names and even accused of being a traitor to their people or race. That people like us still do it against such adversity means that we are anchored in our belief more so than the leaders looking for a patronage angle. It also means we truly care about our fellow citizen and community. That party leaders dont understand this or even appreciate the dedication. That says more about their character than ours. You are in America and you can be anything you want to be. Just remember that values got you where you are, not some bread crumb hunting party boss.
