Another lost classmate ... SCOOTER TAYLOR (MHS66) ... (thanks to Marcia Filley Bergeron for passing on the info) ... Kenneth Dell “Scooter” Taylor was born in Midland, Texas, on Aug. 19, 1947, to Porter Dell Taylor and Janice Titsworth Taylor. He died peacefully on July 24, 2014, after a brief illness in Katy, Texas, with family by his side. Scooter was given the nickname “Motor Scooter” by his birth doctor because he had the legs of an athlete and he believed that Scooter would be a fast runner. As the doctor predicted, Scooter became an agile child and grew up to be one of the fastest students to graduate from Midland High School. He excelled in football, baseball and track during his school years. He later enjoyed golf, fishing and entertaining friends and family by taking his loved ones out on the boat and showing off his mastery of the BBQ pit. Scooter excelled as a Petroleum Landman and developed lasting friendships everywhere he went. He leaves behind many friends and memories from his days in the oil patch. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. His personality, grandiose storytelling, and never-ending ability to deliver a great joke drew many friends and loved ones. He was a friend to all and adored by everyone that crossed his path. Scooter was a very generous, kind and loving man, especially to those that were less fortunate than he. Scooter was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Dell Taylor, and Janice Titsworth Taylor Nye. Scooter is survived by his loving family, Kirk Taylor and wife, Chelsea, along with his grandchildren Caleb and Bailey of Victoria, Texas; his son, Bradley Taylor of Houston, Texas; his youngest son, Porter Taylor and grandson, Porter Taylor, Jr. of Sugarland, Texas; his sister, Jan Taylor Wright and husband, Fred Wright and their children, Tracy Gauthier Jackson, Fred S. Wright IV and Sara Wright of Midland, Texas, as well as numerous cousins and a multitude of friends, all of whom love and miss him dearly. The family will be accepting guests Saturday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2014, from 2-5 p.m. at the home of Scooter’s longtime friends, Sonny and Kristi Fields in Lake Pointe Estates, in Katy, Texas 77494 (the community gate guard will provide directions). A memorial will be held at 3 p.m., to be followed by a celebration of Scooter’s life. Those wishing to make memorial gifts may do so to the charity of ones choice.
