Another low for the UNP/Maithri brigade. Filled with bile and hatred, theyve now started attacking upstanding personalities with blatant lies. Now theyve turned their guns on Kumar Sangakkara. All because they cannot stand anyone who is not interested in their bigoted campaign. Their latest lie? That Kumar Sangakkara was offered a financial incentive by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to support him in his election campaign. The accusation was so personal, that Kumar Sangakkara was driven to write about this on his facebook page, saying he was surprised as well as disappointed to hear such a story being circulated. His reaction on the said social media reports is as follows: I was very surprised and disappointed to hear of a story being circulated regarding His Excellency the President offering me money to support his election campaign. I would like to categorically confirm that at no time whatsoever have I been asked by the President in any manner to be a part of his political campaign. The allegation being circulated on social media claiming that I have been offered a financial incentive to support his election campaign is also completely untrue. These are just false stories concocted with malicious intent that are trying to use and abuse my name and I would like to request everyone to ignore them. Thanks, Sanga. The Common Opposition hate bandwagon continues to roll, now targeting our cricketers and people like Kumar Sangakkara, one of Sri Lankas best representatives and simply a great human being.
