Another night of cold temps and I am so grateful to have the heat on, a blanket on my lap, and my kids all warm in their beds... The thing is that my family and I have had hard times. Very hard times. The entertainment business has extreme ups and downs. I guess thats how I can relate to all the people Im reaching in need of warmth. Its not always those sleeping in their cars, although they are many. Its not always the people living in the dilapidated homes getting their heat from the oven. Its also your neighbor whose husband has been laid off, the car that may get taken in the middle of the night. The neighbor who didnt have the money to run to Target to get those coats for the kids. The family who is embarrassed to ask for help to feed their family because they cant find work. No matter what the situation is, there is a great need right here in South Lake County. The need is huge! The Good Neighbor Program and I are working hard together to help those people. We can only do it with your help though. No need more monetary donations, just blankets, warm things to wear, and compassion. I am focusing on Groveland Elementary this week as their need is overwhelming. Please if you have gently worn coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, etc... that you would like to donate PM me or meet me at Target in the morning at 9:30!! I will make sure these items get to the families that need them immediately! I know so many of you have asked how you can help further. Spread the word, share my posts that like so many of you have done, let me know if you have a family that you are aware of. If we all focus on one school at a time we can make a difference together. If you expressed an interest in adopting a family I am working on that right now. The best way to do it is to share that enormous responsibility with several of your friends. There are families in need 365 days a year. Thank you so much to all of you who continue to help your neighbor!
