Another of my email messages to the Japanese Prime - TopicsExpress

Another of my email messages to the Japanese Prime Minister.... Mr. Prime Minister, I respectfully submit to you the following: I am a nationally recognized award winning environmentalist. I would love to help in any way I can to move your dolphin and whale permitting system to an eco-tourism business that would bring Japan much more money and reinstate Japan’s positive image to the world. In response to your statement regarding Taiji; culture or tradition does not make an action Right, Good or Sustainable. Some points to consider... 1. Whale and Dolphin meat contain dangerous levels of mercury and other contaminents are are unsafe for people, pets, and farm animals to eat, anywhere. 2. Japan will make more money on eco-tourism than it will on the slaughter of cetaceans and collection/selection for captivity. 3. These are sentient beings. 4. We have many, many Japanese tourists come to Hawai’i. They take many tours on our dolphin and whale boats. They take many snorkel, swim and kayak tours. They take land tours. This is all so great that it has become a #1 spot to get married for the Japanese. Japanese people buy our food which benefits farmers, stores, restaurants. Japanese people spend a lot of money on our Hotels, B&Bs (bed and breakfasts), and Resorts. Japanese people buy our Art, Photography and sculptures. 5. Eco-tourism will improve both the National and International image of Japan. 6. Eco-tourism’s monetary benefits trickle down to everyone here in Hawaii. Everyone in Japan will benefit from eco-tourism as well. And guess what? We want to come to Taiji and Iwate to see your dolphins on eco-tourism boats - as long as not one dolphin or whale is killed intentionally. Unfortunately, Japan continues to offer the world permanent emotional scarring with the absolute horror of what is going on (dolphin, porpoise and whale slaughters). It’s not a matter of whether you will continue to do it. If you don’t, you offer Japan an image and a place in history as bad as the holocaust of WWII. As bad as the US bombing of Hiroshima. It is genocide and unacceptable. This week, millions upon millions of people around the world have seen 250 bottlenose dolphins starving for 4 days and dehydrating while babies are ripped from mothers for captivity. We watched while “Angel”, the white albino baby’s herd swam around her to protect her before she was ripped away. We watched her mother’s suicide with grief and exhaustion from “spying” where her baby may be. This happened with the albino baby as well as so many others (over 50 of the group were captured for a life in a bathtub-captivity shows-performing for food rather than bringing Japan repeat business - year after year after year in the wild, through eco-tourism). No wait, there’s more – we watch while over 50 more of the 250 are slaughtered (live) then the remaining exhausted, dehydrated, scarred, abused dolphins were driven out to sea without much, if any strength to survive. Oh wait, did I mention? One got away while all this was going on. That dolphin sat on the outside of the net spying over trying to get his weakened herd to jump the net. This is sentience, honor and loyalty a Samurai would show to their family who is attacked FOR NO GOOD REASON. IT IS WRONG. It hasn’t been a week since this happened and today, a herd of spotted pantropical dolphins were driven into “The Cove” in Taiji and killed. We watch this process, and our fresh wounds are re-opened. No time to heal from the last horror. This is the image Japan projects to us. The slaughter of oceanic Samurai. Japan can only hold onto this dishonor so long. Japan must cave to the rest of the human race or be banned and boycotted from it. The boycotts have already begun simply from the horror we are scarred with. Nobody that learns about this will buy a Japanese electronic - an American car with a Japanese engine or parts, an outboard motor with Mercury on it (Japan is bringing that company down if you dont stop - or forcing them to withdraw their manufacturing in Japan-those motors riding all over those dolphins) - there has already been lists spreading among networks of what companies and products to boycott. Your actions are spreading to American companies who are dealing with you. We are boycotting SeaWorld and all captivity shows the world over. The UK banned these shows, India banned these shows and gave cetaceans personhood rights, others will follow. We boycott from beginning to the end of this process in a targeted manner. Individuals will boycott by their own conscious anything and everything from Japan no matter what I or other leaders of our activism say about targeted boycotts vs. boycott Japan. I love Japan and feel for the people. I know that most of them dont know what is happening and a boycott may hurt the innocent. We are trying to reach out to the Japanese people and let them know what is going on. Kyoto is one of my favorite cities. I have been to Hakone, Kamakura, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and seen Mt. Fuji while flying by on the train. I look forward to the time I return. I wish you the very best in dealing with this decision to step up and be the world leader you have the opportunity to be. Make history by ending this nightmare for all of the human race, please. Sincerely yours, Susan Dreiske Environmental Consultant susan_dreiske@yahoo
