Another random memory just dropped into my mind ... :) I lived far enough away from the school that I could never go to football games or any other sporting events in grade school. The first time I was at any kind of pep rally or anything to do with prepping for a school football game was a pep rally in either 6th or 7th grade. In that rally, the chant started back and forth across the gym where we were meeting that went: Weve got spirit Yes we do Weve got spirit how bout you? (everyone pointed to the other side of the gym on this last line) I didnt quite understand what they were saying ... and there were no prompt cards :). In my ears, it sounded like they were saying We got Sperry, yes we do ... I kept thinking about that and thinking to myself, Who cares if they got Sperry? Whats so big about Sperry anyway? and why do we even want them?
