Another "soul mate"!!!! I always was very fond of Mathematics, but the Science bhind patterns only appeared to me when I was sudying symmetry, and groups of symmetry to interpret the spectra of chemicals as a tool for their identification by infrared spectroscopy. But mathematiciens are ordering the patterns, by studying all the possible combinations. Our Museum of Science, Pavilion of Knowledge is organizing a lot of workshops and training teachers to do so. Their approach is wonderful, as they correlate it to music and the Portuguese Pavements made with white and black rocks. But symmetry is also a crucial tool to understand crystals. So symmetry in fact is a common domain in Chemistry, Geology, Mineralogy, Art, Arts and Crafts and many other areas.
