Another stellar day for the St George Merida team today at Jelajah Malaysia! Stage 2 covered 150km and just the one very steep category 3 climb at the 70km mark. Gus and Bonello managed to wither the group down to just eleven riders over the top which also contained Declan and Pat who promptly threw up on himself as we crested the climb. The yellow jersey had been unloaded and had to work seriously hard with the other jersey wearers over the next fifteen kilometres to bring things back together. Jay and Harry had a free ride back to the front group with that group of 6, bringing the numbers back up to 6 of us out of the front 17 - an very impressive feat to have the whole team represented in a highly select group! Unfortunately the proceeding terrain just wasnt selective enough to work in our favour and soon it was status quo in then bunch and things were set for a sprint finish. After and impressive show of aggression inside the final 3km from Harry lead out duties were left to Bonello who delivered our quasi sprinter, Pat Sharpe to an impressive fifth place! Gus finished strongly again in the main bunch and consolidated his 3rd place on GC, while the team also remains 4th in the teams classification.
