Another successful Housing Forum yesterday rounded the year off nicely with a great turnout. It was a more informal meeting as we wanted to share some lovely Christmas food and provide an opportunity for attendees to network. Thank you to those new Christchurch City Councillors and Community Board Members who introduced themselves and briefly explained their roles. We wish you well in your new roles and look forward to working with you. We were also updated on Housing NZ activities by Fraser Benson and Andrew Booker. Others who spoke briefly included Ian from Community Energy Action and we ended with some words from a tenant , Leonie, whose story has featured on our website, FB page and in The Press. Thanks Leonie for being brave enough to speak to us - it makes a difference seeing and hearing from the people whose lives are affected by the housing issues and conditions here in Christchurch . Many thanks to the Housing Forum Planning Committee and all those who have assisted with the forums over the past year. We know there is still a lot of work to be done with regard to housing issues in the coming years and a lot of challenges ahead. We look forward to welcoming you all at the first Housing Forum for 2014 - we will post the dates on our FB page and website early in the New Year.
