Another task this time (while Tom weed-whacked the perimeter) was to raise several footstones and one tombstone which were so low that they were in danger of being hit by the mower. On the left is the footstone for Prescilla J. Whitteker. The white top shows what was above the ground before raising. Note her initials on the footstone. This helps us identify headstones that are hard to read, or that have fallen and not in their original location. In the middle is her headstone. On the right is a headstone we straightened, as it leaning over almost horizontally and significantly buried. It is a large rectangular limestone "fieldstone," likely from the 1820s, apparently before local carvers were available. No name or initials were present that we could find.
