Another tooth broke off, making it officially obvious that I need - TopicsExpress

Another tooth broke off, making it officially obvious that I need dentures. There was no full disclosure when I had a surgery 14 years ago that made it so my body cannot absorb vitamins or minerals. Ive had several conversations with dentists who see these patients deal with dental issues that were never mentioned as a side effect. The other contributing factor, for me, is all the medications Ive had to take, starting in 2002. Similarly, no doctor or pharmacist ever told me this was a possibility. Considering that I started having major health problems two years after a gastric bypass, that ultimately led to being totally and permanently disabled, I wish I had not had The Surgery. I understand theyve made improvements in the gastric sleeve, the technique currently used instead of the Roux-en-y, but almost everyone I know who has had this surgery has had complications. Not necessarily right away, but down the road. I wish it was reversible, but either way, the damage is done. So, yeah. Informed consent is often lacking, with extremely unfortunate consequences. This was not what I signed up for.
