Another ulcer question: our guy is grumpy (not dangerous, just grouchy) around his belly when grooming and tacking. Hes better for untacking. He also hasnt got much of a winter coat (Im used to a fluff ball QH). These are the only symptoms of ulcers that he shows, Im just a chronic worrier. Hes definitely seeing the vet the next time she comes out, in the meantime are there other more subtle things I should be on the lookout for? Or could he just be a grouchy sorta guy? He is leased so I dont know much about his history, but he gets four pounds of Mule City and about 15 pounds of Timothy/Orchard Grass split between two feedings. He is worked about 30 minutes a day six days a week, one if those days over 3+ fences and he is turned out 12+ hours unless the weather (central NC) is unbearable and wet.
