Another update – not so good: I had another appointment with my oncologist followed by chemo infusion today. Last month my platelet count dropped, a lot. The doctor was concerned, but he didn’t seem too worried about it. He lowered my oral chemo dose and we hoped for the best. Since that appointment, I spent a lot of time with my family and friends and have been feeling really good. I was positive that my platelets went up this time. Sad to say, they dropped again. Not only did they drop more, but both my red and white blood cell counts dropped as well. My doctor wishes he had an answer for this, but he doesn’t at this point. He lowered the dosage of my oral chemo meds again. I’m supposed to have bloodwork drawn again in two weeks. The doctor still doesn’t seem overly concerned, but it’s starting to freak me out. I’ve been doing so well over this past year of maintenance, and now things are taking an unexpected turn. On top of that, school starts in two weeks and I’m going to be introduced to all sorts of new germs. Please pray that things take a turn for the better. I just can’t go through this again.
