Another vent session. Went to one of the two sewing shops here in town to buy a needle for my newly acquired 1897 White shuttle machine. Did find the needle but, oh my, such rude personnel. If you arent buying a machine, then the attitude is like we cant be bothered! This shop has a collection of many old machines but didnt see any treadle type. Very interesting to look at. Lots of electric Singers and other brands also. I asked about a new mechanical machine & was informed that they arent made anymore. There were many models of the refurbished mechanicals but certainly no offer of help in looking at them. Guess they want to keep them all. Just frustrating how people act thus driving away business. Oh well. did get the needles - now to get this machine to work. A completely unknown type of operation. PS I also wanted to know just how the shuttle worked and especially why it was called a vibrating shuttle . The answer given - bring in your machine so we can look at it. Sure and be charged a $100? I get so much better advice from all the wonderful people here. Thanks all.
