Another winter storm gets going this weekend Mar .15, 2014 Northeast | - A weak clipper like system with limited moisture brings scattered areas of light rain and snow showers from New York through New England today. - Some very light rain showers may skirt Boston and New York City today, mainly this morning. - The Middle Atlantic region will have a dry and mild Saturday. - A fairly mild day with highs from the mid 30s northern New England to the 60s across Virginia. - A shot of colder air returns to the region Sunday, and by Sunday night into Monday a winter storm could find its way into parts of Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region. - Some moderate to heavy accumulating snow (5-8) may fall for Baltimore and Washington DC Sunday night into Monday. - Further north, lighter snows will fall, generally 1-3 for Philadelphia with New York City anticipated to miss the accumulating snow with this system. Midwest | - After a mild Friday for much of the region, a shot of colder air blasts south from Canada starting today. - Some light snow today from North Dakota to southern Minnesota. - A mix of light rain and snow from South Dakota to northern Iowa. - Scattered showers and windy across the High Plains. - Highs only in the teens along the Canadian border. - Highs in the 30s from southern Minnesota to Michigan. - Highs in the 60s and 70s from southeast Nebraska to Kansas an eastward to Missouri. - Turning colder in the eastern Plains and Midwest Sunday with snow developing from eastern Kansas into the Ozarks of Missouri straight into the Ohio Valley. South | - As an upper low ejects into the southern Plains today, wet weather is ahead for most of the region. - Rain and thunderstorms blossom today for Oklahoma and much of Texas. - Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible along a dryline from southern Oklahoma to central and eastern Texas and the Ark-La-Tex. - Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threat with storms, but an isolated tornado cant be ruled out. - Todays highs in the 60s and 70s across most of the region. - Rain will rapidly expand across the Southeast and Gulf Coast regions Sunday with locally heavy rain a good bet. - Severe threat diminishes Sunday, but a stray severe storm is possible closer to the Gulf Coast. - Chance for a wintry mix from southern Virginia and western North Carolina Sunday night into Monday. - Increasing winds Saturday night and Sunday from the southern Plains to Texas and eastward to Arkansas and Louisiana. West | - Saturday will feature higher elevation snow from Montana to northern Colorado. - Scattered showers Saturday along the Colorado Front Range to northeast New Mexico. - Increasing winds from the Rockies to the Front Range. - Scattered rain and snow showers from western Washington to the northern Cascades. - The remainder of the region should be dry. - Coolest highs in the 40s and 50s occur from Montana south to Colorado. - Milder highs in the 60s to low 70s stretch from the Northwest and northern California to northern sections of Arizona and New Mexico. - Warm upper 70s and 80s expected in southern parts of California and Arizona.
