Anseba — The Commander of the Traffic Police in Anseba region, Maj. Habte Gebru, disclosed that 17 Eritrean citizens lost their lives yesterday in a bus accident along Tinkulhas Escarpment. The victims of the accident include 15 students from Tsenat Junior and Secondary School in Adiquala Sub-zone on their way to Sawa to pursue Grade 12 education and fulfill their National Service as members of the 28th round. The other 2 victims from among the total number of 44 individuals who were traveling with the bus were the driver and the teacher taking care of the students. The accident resulted from the overturn of the bus due to excessive fast driving, and the remaining survivors who sustained injuries are receiving treatment in hospitals in the region. In connection with the sad incident, the Ministry of Education and the Administration of the Southern Region respectively conveyed deep condolences to the families of the victims.
