Anti-Electricity, Defense, Interior Ministers campaign launched Yemen Fox - Marwan al-Wajeeh A mobilization campaign was launched on Tuesday calling for dismissals of the ministers of Electricity, Interior and Defense, who the campaigners say failed to protect the countrys security and electricity transmission lines. The popular campaign, ironically hailing the government as bright spark while people in darkness, aims to obtain a huge number of signatures from citizens and present them to the President and Parliament for dismissing the three ministers and referring them to the justice. The drive started with collecting signatures in Hayel Street, where it was welcomed by many citizens who suffer from power outages for more than ten hours a day. In a statement to Yemen Fox, rights activist Majidah al-Hadad, who leads the campaign, said they are not affiliated to any political party or organization. We want to convey sufferings of citizens to the Yemeni President and Parliament through these forms of signatures. She noted that both the Interior and Defense Ministers have not even tried to stop attacks against power lines, warning against their stay in office. Yemeni provinces undergo power outages for long hours as well as unprecedented insecurity, with foreigners being kidnapped or even killed, newspapers burned and journalists assaulted under security apparatuses nose. A distribution bus of Yemen Fox and Akhbar al-yum dailies was set on fire in Aden province early this month, while offenders are still at large.
