This play was presented to audiences in different cities in Pakistan, and became an overnight runaway success. The play ran a total of 100 live performances to a packed house, every day in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. ‘Pawney 14 August’ is a thought provoking story of what Pakistan was perceived as and what Pakistan has become today. Revolving around the three principal characters,the Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal and Maulana Shaukat Ali, who have come to see today’s Pakistan. Filled with questions and curiosity, the story is replete with a variety of characters representing Pakistan’s society from Politics, Business, Military, Film World, etc. The setting is at the Karachi Airport where each passenger is a storyteller. This production features some of the finest theatre actors from Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. This play is directed and produced by Dawar Mehmood.
