Anxiety is my Achilles Heel, and a lot of the Lenten readings - TopicsExpress

Anxiety is my Achilles Heel, and a lot of the Lenten readings lately seem to address the issue of worry. Its a seemingly inevitable human reaction, but it only fuels fear, which perfect love casts out. Working on quieting my fears and deepening my trust is a lifelong journey. Worry is a shadow on a bright and sunny day. It doesn’t solve our problems, but it takes our peace away. We toss and turn and fret about the troubles we surmise, But other issues always come and take us by surprise. It’s good to take precautions, but how ready can we be? For certain, simply stewing never stopped catastrophe. Instead, it’s best to focus on the beauty we behold, For every bleak horizon is infused with hints of gold. Jesus never promised us a life devoid of pain; He simply said the Shepherd would walk with us through the rain. If we can set our burdens down and learn to let them go, Our gracious King will carry them and guide us in our woe. We wish that we could just evade each pitfall, snare and stone, But life’s a rocky journey that we cannot take alone. When gratitude replaces stress, our joy will soon expand. Our hearts will start to heal when we accept His helping hand.
