Any help with this Danny, I reviewed your C&P exam with the psychiatrist. The reason you were not rated for PTSD is that the psychiatrist stated that you didnt meet the criteria for a diagnosis of PTSD or Anxiety Disorder in accordance with the DSM IV (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). Your primary diagnosis was insomnia which falls under Diagnostic Code 9210 (Psychotic disorder, Not Otherwise Specified), which is why the VA rated you 30% for it. If you would like to appeal the decision, we have a year from the date of the notification letter. If thats what you decide, I recommend getting a second opinion, but from an outside psychiatrist with experience working with military PTSD patients. The dependency claim is still pending. The section that works these type of claims is seriously backlogged, but theyll get it done as soon as possible. Please advise. Greg GREGORY T.
