Any of you have experience with this manuscript submission site, Swoon? swoonreads/about According to the about page, you can submit a teen romance manuscript to the site where they then post it for reading and rating by their online community. The manuscript with the highest rating gets a full publishing package, $15,000 advance, and all the other goodies that come with a traditionally published book. Sounds too good to be true, but the company is legit. Macmillan is no joke. The sketchy part is that it doesn’t say how long they wait to see which novel is highest rated. Does the process run in cycles? If not, the novel that has been on the site the longest has the best chances of getting a high rating in comparison to someone who submits much later. I also worry that once a full manuscript is posted online like this, it is completely useless to any other publisher if this route doesn’t work out. What publisher is going to pay for what others have already read in its entirety for free online? Am I mistaken or overly worried on this issue? It seems like a very high risk that’s only worth it if you win. Check out the website. Tell me what you think.
