Anyone else have an inventive streak they want to exercise?... One of my goals for the new year is to bring to reality a few of the most promising concepts from my list of ideas. Some of these are hobby type projects that are more for fun (like you might find on instructables) but others have potential to be kickstarter or patentable products. The reason Im sharing this here is that Im hoping to find some likeminded people that would be interested in setting up a hackerspace (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackerspace) in the Tupelo area. The basic idea is for a group of us to pitch in to rent some space and share some equipment to make it easier for us all to create our projects. While there may be some projects we want to keep super secret there could also be some that we could collaborate on. While this is mainly for people in the Tupelo area, there are some things (like writing code, research, or graphic design) that arent as limited by geography. If this interest you, please private message me and give me some idea of your level of interest, areas of interest or proficency, and if there are any tools you would be willing to share access to (with some obvious rules and agreements). Also, if this isnt for you but might be for someone that you know, please forward this post to them as well. While this has been on my mind for over a few years, Im seeing this maker movement gaining traction all over the US as the Internet has opened access to both knowledge and parts, as well as created platforms for small inventors to market products widely with very little cost. Plus, for me, its just fun! If you share my enthusiasm, please let me know!
