Anyone ever try the jump a starter trick on a car? With old cars - TopicsExpress

Anyone ever try the jump a starter trick on a car? With old cars and separate solenoids it was easy, you used a screwdriver to touch the other stud. And I see Youtubes of guys testing starters with the starter off of the vehicle. But my 1997 Caravan starter seems maybe newer than the ones theyre testing. Theirs have terminals sticking out of the solenoid that they jump to activate the different functions of the starter. My terminals are rubber-covered and on opposite sides of the starter and my solenoid has nothing sticking out of it. Anyway, I gave it a little try and all I got was sparks so I gave it up. I got my old starter out kinda easy. I guess Ill just install the new one and see what happens. I kinda wanted to test the old one. (The guy is way chill in this vid. Be prepared!) https://youtube/watch?v=9PWG6Il_ZJI
