Anyone know of good texts that deal with the entanglement of imperialism and natural history, specifically the interest and market in plants/animals/vegetation from South/Central American and Caribbean colonies back to Europe in the late eighteenth/early nineteenth century? Or on the weird status of military officers and colonial administrators interest in botany, plant species, etc. Particularly of interest would be locations where slave rebellions also occurred...
