Anyone out there suffering from an open wound or from open leg ulcers that are just not healing do not despair. Thus far the team at Medix Pharmacy has successfully treated five major wound cases successfully. The irony is that all five patients landed up with open wounds due to botched up operations carried out at Helen Joseph hospital. Two patients had breast cancer. This is how we treated the wound... Step one: Clean the would thoroughly with eusol or betadine solution. Soak the wound with eusol especially if there is puss. Step two: Apply bactrazine oitment or bactroban oitment on the wound. Step three: Syringe the wound with a thick layer of honey. Step four: Smear honey and bactrazine ointment on a few layers of gauze. Place the gauze over the wound. Step five: Cover the wound with a strip of Tegaderm plaster........ This procedure should be carried out twice a day initially until some sign of healing can be seen.... thereafter clean the wound once a day. It is also recommended that the patient takes a course of antibiotics simultaneously.
