Anyone who dares to organize group travel knows that part of the joy is to keep it connected close to the culture and relative at times to our history. I am always wanting to discover something special. It was in Kinsale that I was able to surprise the group to a moving 9/11 Memorial that was created by Kathleen Murphy on her property in Kinsale. She lived in New York and worked as a nurse for many years before moving back to her homeland and the town of Kinsale. She knew many of the firemen who lost their lives. She planted 343 trees representing the loss of the 343 firemen. It was moving and again the demonstration of the connection between the Irish-Americans. Sadly, she lost her life to cancer at an early age. Her nephew nows oversees the garden. It is open for anyone who wishes to visit this sacred ground overlooking the Bay of Kinsale.
