Anyone who has ever loved a pet as much as a human child can know what Patti and I are feeling tonight. Our 10 year old dog son began losing control of his legs 2 1/2 years ago, progressing from back to front (degenerative myelopathy), and a two wheeled cart to bedridden and 4 wheel cart. We noticed a cancer on his tongue about 6 weeks ago, and due to his other debilitating condition, chose not to remove it. It was starting to block his swallowing and breathing, so we had to let him go this AM, breaking our hearts. Our wonderful vet came to our house and put him down on the couch he has lived on for a year. He said exemplary care by Patti has kept him alive much, much longer than any other dog in this condition he has ever seen. I only hope that he is somewhere tonight running like the wind, the way dogs are supposed to..................................he belongs now, to the wind. RIP my sweet boxer boy.
