Anyone who thinks that Australia has a justice system is, Im afraid, very wrong. Anyone who still believes that you report crimes to the police, an arrest is immediately made and a court case ensues with a just and fitting sentence handed down within weeks of the complaint being made is again, sadly, very wrong. No - not only do victims of crime endure horrendous crimes, sometimes over the course of many years, they then face a traumatic and psychologically disturbing wait and battle, usually spanning a couple to several years, waiting and fighting for justice to be served. Once a sentence is handed down a victim usually has no right of appeal - that is, no right to say that they feel the sentence is too short. Yet the offender, the one who has sentenced the victim to a lifetime of physical, emotional and mental scarring causing so many issues - PTSD, suicidality, self harm, relationship and trust issues, educational and employment issues and so on can appeal to say they think the sentence given to them is too long. Well guess what? We victims of crime would like to appeal against the length of our sentences but who do we appeal to? An invisible god? An uncaring public who turn a blind eye until it happens to them? A government who couldnt care less because its not a popular topic? You go ahead and make your appeal you scared little boy, it shows who is really in control now doesnt it? I will fight it every step of the way, and if real justice is served your 20 years will become 30. If my fight doesnt help our case at least I will make damn sure that it helps future survivors. Stay in prison you scum - youre much safer there than on the streets believe me :/
