Anything expected from Mufti, his team: Sagar SRINAGAR: While the impasse continued for the 13th consecutive day over government formation in the State, senior National Conference leader and party’s general secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar Monday said “anything” was expected from the Mufti Muhammad Sayed led team in order to go into alliance with BJP “Anything is expected from Mufti-led team over government formation with BJP,” Sagar told Rising Kashmir. “So far there has been no headway in the process of government formation. But definitely Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is playing mind games while on the other side BJP is looking for an opportunity to come into power in the state,” he said. He said the rightwing BJP was “desperately” waiting to rule the Muslim-majority state. “PDP has taken their voters for a ride,” he alleged. “During election campaign, party was selling that they have to keep BJP away and wooed voters on the slogan and now they are keen to join hands with them over government formation.” While rejecting any possibility of alliance with BJP for government formation in the state, Sagar termed the silence of PDP over its offer of unconditional support as eerie. “The reality is that PDP is ready for alliance with BJP. Although we too were contacted earlier by BJP leadership,” he said. “During our core group meeting, all MLAs have unanimously decided not to be part of BJP led government”. On NC joining NDA in 1996, Sagar said, “It was not a political blunder because Vajpayee was different than Modi and Modi’s BJP is altogether different party than it used to be.” Reiterating his party’s offer of support to PDP for government formation, Sagar said, “We are ready to support PDP if it forms the government. First Omar Abdullah had offered support to PDP, and then I as a general secretary of the party also extended the support”. “The offer over government formation still stands unchanged,” he said adding there has been no response from PDP. Sagar, however, claimed, that PDP was willing to go with BJP “due to which they weren’t responding to the sincere offer of NC.”
