Anything looked at through the prism of the here and now can appear odd. Our life cycle is too short to grasp the nature of change intuitively. The time frame for understanding is too long. The solution is to look back and discover the why. Many things that we see as constants are merely catalysts to the next step. Some catalysts are needed longer than others. Examples include: Home telephones, animal powered vehicles, automobiles, pollution, fossil fuels, printing on paper, etc, etc. It is important to jump to the next rung. In the change vs stagnation debate, the first is rewarded while the second is punished.
