Anything that comes out of the federal government these days is a sellout to the big corps. Period. Dont be ok with it because it supposedly promotes critical thinking....the administration of such programs is where it all falls apart; and no matter how good the curriculum may be, the way it is implemented will result in failure for many. That is why the federal government shouldnt be administrating our education system...you have to decentralize it as much as possible to save money and make sure the deliverables are appropriate for the audience.
