Apart from the retired Major General Hussein Ali, the only other people who can easily become a good and respected Inspector General of police are the Mombasa County Commissioner, Nelson Marwa and the Nakuru County Governor, Kinuthia Mbugua. Mr Marwa has done in Mombasa what the Israelis have been doing in Palestine- going after the Muslim radicals and terrorists before they strike. Marwa has also ruthlessly gone after the terrorists after they stuck. He is one person who performed well in a very hostile and politically volatile climate. He is an achiever. Commissioner Marwa is one man who will change the police force into a 21st century organization if given goodwill and structural support. Meanwhile, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua should be recalled from politics to serve in this security docket. He transformed the Administration Police to an elite squad that is now well equipped and funded. AP is now a paramilitary force thar has the same capability like that of the GSU. Soft spoken and slow to speak, Governor Kinuthia is a very alert and capable person. His CV is quite impressive with very strong academic and administration credentials . He talks less and work more. He let his work speak more than his words. He is a career administrator whose service in the central government will be greatly valued. Politics is a messy place for such a hardworking and serious career officers. Nakuru being a hotbed of politics hasnt made it easier for KM although the governor is so far on top of things. Mr President, You have Mr Marwa or Governor KM for IG. The choice is however yours.
