Aplogetics 101 : To answer question; Did calling MARY the “Mother of GOD” make her greater than GOD? This is a twisted anti-Catholicism’s principle that being used to deceive people to fulfill their personal desires. Answer: Absolutely NOT! We call her Mother of GOD simply because it is the TRUTH and it is the very title given to her by GOD that we honored the most. Just like for it would be odd to say that a human mother gives birth only to a “body” or a nature; a mother gave birth to human person with body and soul. Likewise, Mary gave birth to Jesus as a person both human and divine. To deny that she gave birth to “the man who is GOD” is effectively to deny the very fundamental Christian doctrine of the hypostatic union – the substantial, unmixed, unseparated union of two natures in the one person of Jesus. There are ancient writings of ancient Christians that can prove this as early as 189 A.D.
