We welcome any volunteers with O+ blood type to spare some time to donate blood platelet to help this child as a last resort. The child will also be doing chemo therapy and radio therapy in January in preparation for bone marrow transplant. If any volunteers with O+ blood type could spare some time by end of January, please visit 5th Floor, Subang Medical Centre at the Blood Donation Department and inform the relevant nurses that you wish to donate blood platelet to #tan jun kiet, the nurses will conduct blood test for you to determine if it is suitable for the child. Subang Medical Centre will contact the suitable blood donors between 8 January 2015 to 31 January 2015 to donate the blood platelet. The process will take approximately 2 hours. However, as the child requires fresh blood platelet and coupled with the fact that the blood platelet can only be retained for 5 days, therefore the donor is required to attend to the hospital as and when the child needs the blood platelet, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused as a result of this. Also, kindly note that if any of the family members has cancer history or if the donor has any special illness/diseases are also not allowed to donate his or her blood platelet, as this child requires fresh and healthy blood platelet (as there is a concern that the blood may contain genetic issues). We completely understand that this process may deter/discourage you, however, this is the very last hope for the child. This could also be the child’s only hope. This child has been diagnosed with leukemia since the age of 2 and has been battling against cancer for nearly 10 years. Over the course of these 10 years, the child has repeatedly battled against many relapse of leukemia. This is the fourth relapse and the only cure is to do bone marrow transplant. We sincerely hope that those who are blood type O+ could come forth to help this poor child. When the other normal children are actively growing up in their childhood, this poor child can only battle against cancer cells. If you could just spare some time to help this poor child, we sincerely beg that you offer this opportunity to him. Please give him the last hope of survival. The child’s mother is also diagnosed with heart disease and requires to do operation, however, due to the child’s illness, she has deferred the operation numerous times as she is concerned if her operation is unsuccessful, she will not be able to be there for the child through this battle. Please, please offer the help you can to this family for the 10 years that they have gone through.
