Apologies if this has been cross posted Brilliant Opportunity Writing for the Theatre with National Theatre Writer Simon Vinnicombe For experienced and aspiring writers. For only £35 per session work alongside National Theatre Writer Simon Vinnicombe for four consecutive Saturdays. Saturday 31st January 2015 10am - 4pm Saturday 7th February 2015 10am - 4pm Saturday 14th February 2015 10am - 4pm Saturday 21st February 2015 10am - 4pm Venue: YHA St Pancras, 79-81 Euston Road, London. NW1 2QE. This course aims to teach you the fundamentals of playwriting. Giving you the confidence and the tools to write compelling and contemporary drama for the stage. Looking at how structure has evolved from Aristotle to Hollywood Looking at how to create three dimensional, compelling characters for drama. Dramatic action. The fundamental element of every scene and every story. How do we write desire? How do we create obstacles for our characters? Dialogue and theatricality. What makes your work a play? How action dictates every story. What is good dialogue? Simon is a dramaturge, writer and director and will look at the process of page to stage. You will be guided throughout this course to write a short stage script that can be produced. Simon was awarded the Pearson Bursary prize for 2010. He has had commissions from Theatre Clywd, Soho Theatre and Royal National Theatre Connections. He is also a Theatre Director and Film Maker. His Writing Credits include City Love (Bussey Building 2013).Show Me The World (Theatre 503, Underbelly, Edinburgh 2011), Cradle Me (Finborough Theatre, Helsinki 2010), Wisdom (Manhattan Theatre Co. 2008), Ceremony (Y Touring Theatre Co. 2008), Turf (Bush Theatre 2008), Year 10 (Finborough Theatre / International tour 2007) TV - EASTENDERS & DOCTORS RADIO 4 DRAMA Simon has taught playwriting at The Royal Court, worked with writers at the Arcola Theatre, devised scripts with groups at The Bush Theatre and is currently teaching at Brunel University.
