‘App-y days for smartphone users More than 23,500 people have downloaded the GMP app since it was launched a year ago this week. New features are about to be launched to update the app in the coming months which includes the ability to personalise information to what you are interested in, notifications when new information has been added and being able to send photographs to help with appeals. An exciting new feature will also be a notification providing information when people go inside a specific location. Deputy Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, who is the national lead for social media engagement said: “This really is going to provide people with up to the minute information about where they live, work or are visiting. “We have had fantastic feedback from people who have downloaded the app and use it to share information with us. We have listened to what people have said they wanted and that has helped us to provide these new developments.” The app was developed in-house by a GMP web team and was first available on iPhone with an Android version available during last summer. DCC Hopkins added, said: “People use apps on a daily basis to assist their lives and we want to be able to provide information and share updates that will help people. “There is so much that we can do using new technology and we will be continuing to develop and improve the app.” The app can be found at the App Store: bit.ly/124cOaH and on Google Play: bit.ly/177Rxwi
