Apparently life continues while I live in the mountains because this man directed his last show at Santa Catalina last Saturday. And I cant believe that time has come and gone. Mr. Thompson believed in me before I believed in me. He told me about theatres all around the country, encouraged me to apply to good college theatre programs, and consistently invited me back to speak to classes and summer camp about my experiences. I was lucky enough to do 19 shows with him in upper school and camp--all thoroughly unique and memorable. From Good News as a little freshman to Thoroughly Modern Millie as the lead stage manager, from Anne of Green Gables as the volunteer sound board op to Mulan as the technical theatre teacher, we had a long journey together. Now, my theatre team at Catalina, Mr. Thompson, Greg, and Buzz have all moved on to new projects since Ive left. Its been 10 years since I started my theatre journey and close to half of them were spent with them at Catalina. The PAC isnt my home anymore but my history on that stage will be with me forever.
