Apparently there is a forum created about my new show Love Thy Sister on WETV so I am going to share my response with everyone Ive written to the person who created it. Hopefully my response gives you more insight. Its long but please read. Dear MIND BOOTY AND SOUL. As a filmmaker I have a long track record of producing and writing quality content that has always shown and portrayed my people in a positive light especially Black Women. Always! Every film and every TV show the list is very long so I ask that you check my track record so I dont have to list all the credits. When I created I Married a Baller for Tvone way back in 2006 which was the very first show about Athlete wives. Taj George happened to be Really married to NFL Star Eddie George. They had an incredible relationship. Two people with successful careers, a beautiful family and we got to see how they balanced their lives and they were God Fearing Christians. The show got an A review in Entertainment Weekly, ESPN the Magazine and numerous other magazines. It was the first of its kind but the network started to complain that the viewership wasnt high enough. Because I have integrity and Ive never compromised my core values for a buck when I was asked to create unnecessary drama I walked away from the show as the Creator and Executive Producer. I have left Millions of dollars on the table in my career because I was unwilling to portray my people in a bad light nor do coonery television. Fast Forward Vh1 does Basketball Wives (None of the woman on the show were actually married by the way) And everyone watches and its a big hit. Vh1 does Flavor of Love, I love New York, Charm School, Love and Hip Hop. Black woman are fighting, spiting on each other, pulling hair out and everyone including some of the people who are commenting on this post are watching eating popcorn lol. Mind you half of these shows where women are fighting each other with exception of Basketball Wives and LAHH werent even created by Black People. Black people wont protest outside of Vh1 for portraying Black Women in a negative light but they will protest outside of BET in a heart beat do you see the hypocrisy in this? The Rucker Family on Love Thy Sister is the most Educated Accomplished Family on Reality TV probably in the history of Reality TV! Ruby Rucker (the mother of the child this ridiculous post is about) has a Law Degree and OWNS her own Law Firm. Her Husband is a Dentist and OWNS several branches throughout North and South Carolina. Ellen Rucker has a Masters Degree, is a practicing Chiropractor and OWNS several branches throughout North and South Carolina. Her Fiance Bakari is a Lawyer and was the youngest person in history to be voted into the House of Representatives was featured in Time Magazine before he was 30 years old. Ione Rucker has a Masters Degree and has given out over 10 Scholarships in the last two years to kids going to college. This family has a street named after them and the Middle School in the town where they live is named after theyre grandfather who was one of the first Black Doctors in the town. You obviously have not watched this show???Thats very apparent lol. This family owns over 20 business and over 100 properties in the town that they are from. Everyone in the family is a Doctor or Lawyer. Most of the people posting and commenting here probably cant say that. Or that they have an advanced degree PHD or Masters Degree. I am at a place in my life where I do not have to create or produce a show or film simply for a check. If I produce a show or film its because there is a story I would like to tell or positive image that I would like to portray and Love Thy Sister shows women who are highly educated, who own schools, Law Offices, Local Sports Team, dozens of rental properties, and are a close knit family. No family is perfect tho. Im sure yours isnt if it was to be put on Television and neither is mine. Its very easy to tear someone elses accomplishments down on social media and you dont even know the person nor have you probably even seen the show. But you got me to comment here so I suppose you got what you wanted which was the attention. God Bless you. People are entitled to there own opinion even if it is ludicrous I wish you well but people lets be a little more responsible with what you post especially about your own people in the future.
