Apparently we Pakistanis have something bad to say about anyone who has made it big. Anyone ahead of us either didn’t deserve it or has achieved it by cheating. One of such individuals who is subjected to a lot of criticism since many years is Mr. Malik Riaz (owner of the Bahria town project). I am not trying to say that all of his critics are false, but we live in a society with such a flawed system in place, that one has to get his hands dirty to play along and to achieve something in life. Now just a while ago there was a massive short circuit in one of the main power cables at Bahria Town Islamabad, which I happened to witness myself. The flames were so big it could’ve easily burnt down any building. I was also amongst the others who called the security to inform them about the situation and within less than 2 minutes the fire brigade was here and took control over it. Now this is the 2nd day of Eid with half of the staff on holidays anyway. If this is the kind of service a corrupt man can deliver, than I am afraid I would rather prefer being called a corrupt Pakistani than a useless individual who sits on his ass all day, pointing fingers. Good on you Riaz sb, Good on you!
