Apple Juice Factory! Absolutely amazing. Sometimes you come - TopicsExpress

Apple Juice Factory! Absolutely amazing. Sometimes you come across something quite simple and find out you didnt know how it works and you are quite surprised and wonder does everyone already know this? So Ill share this eye opener (for me at least) and if you didnt already know this, cool. I visited a factory that deals with Apples. They process tons of apples a day and create from the apples a few raw base ingredients (apple concentrate, apple aroma, pumice, and pectin) that are exported to other factories to make other drinks and products. First the apples are dropped off by local farmers and thoroughly washed, presses (three drums that can pressed up to 50 tons), the liquids are seperated through enzymes as well. All the left over materials are then dried out to make pumice which has a variety of other product uses from cosmetics to animal feed. The liquid is filtered and goes through a special process to take out the apple aroma (see the picture with the plastic barrels of clear liquid) the left over liquid is concentrated and filtered many times. Here is the very interesting part. Apple concentrate doesnt actually taste like apple juice concentrate. It has all the apple flavor already removed. It tastes like a plain sugar syrup! And is then used to make other flavored syrups. Like strawberry syrup (so another company would use the sweet but flavorless syrup and add different aromas to create their flavored sweet syrups.) In this factory the used water goes to a special man made lake where it is filtered and purified and then recycled. This huge factory is almost fully automated the workers mainly walk around and check dials and push buttons. From the time the aples enter the building the whole process is enclosed until the last storage tanks which later gets pumped directly to storage trucks.
